I applied for the Hydropower Intern Program to learn and practice the many facets of mechanical engineering within hydropower. The opportunity to work with and around experienced engineers at the start of my career really caught my attention.
Although I have only been an intern for a few months, the program has provided a variety of personal growth opportunities in an environment that fully supports my interests within this dynamic industry. I have always been interested by how systems and machines are designed and operated, especially hydraulic energy and hydroelectric power.
This intern program has exposed me to both areas in diverse ways that strengthen my knowledge. The experiences I have created in this program have helped fulfil the curriculum I have learned in school in a variety. real-world applications.
The machines and technology I’ve been exposed to far exceeds my expectations. The Hydropower Intern Program has also given me the opportunity to travel and tour many operating projects around the Northwest. Being from Spokane, Washington, I have grown to enjoy activities like steelhead fishing, mountain biking, and snowboarding. I am thrilled to work in the areas that support my hobbies and for an organization like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
