OMAHA, NE - Fall public meetings to discuss Missouri River Water Management operations and plans are scheduled for Nov. 6, 7 and 9.
The final day of meetings was originally set for Nov. 8, however, a scheduling conflict required the meetings in Smithville, Missouri, and Nebraska City, Nebraska, be moved to Nov. 9.
“I apologize for any inconvenience this schedule change may cause. If someone cannot attend the meeting and would like to comment, all materials presented at the meeting will be available on our website. Comments may be submitted via email,” said John Remus, chief of the Corps’ Missouri River Basin Water Management Division.
The 2018-2019 draft Annual Operating Plan for the Missouri River Mainstem System was posted in September at: http://www.nwd.usace.army.mil/MRWM/Public-Meetings/ and public comments regarding the draft operating plan may be emailed to Missouri.Water.Management@nwd02.usace.army.mil.
“Flows will remain above average through November and then will be reduced to winter release rates. We still have 4.3 million acre feet of captured runoff from 2018 to release before the 2019 runoff season,” said Remus.
The public meetings will be held in six cities throughout the basin in early November. These meetings will include a presentation regarding 2018 operations and plans for regulating the reservoir system in 2019, followed by a question and answer session. The public meetings will be conducted at the times and locations listed below.
