    Dam Monitoring Survey data from the Omaha District Surveys, Mapping and Geographic Information Systems Section Field Survey team is one element of a larger Dam Safety inspection and monitoring program. The USACE Dam Safety program and supporting deformation monitoring surveys help to ensure each of the Omaha District’s 27 dams is ready to capture floodwater from the next storm.

    Exercising Safety: Bear Creek, Cherry Creek and Chatfield dams catch floodwaters while reducing flooding risks

    During the week of Aug. 19, several employees from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District participated in a safety exercise focused on Cherry Creek Dam and Reservoir near Denver, Colo.

    Omaha District supports Missouri River Relief cleanup event

    For the fourth time, volunteers from around the Omaha and Council Bluffs area came together to support the organization, Missouri River Relief and help clean up the banks of the Missouri River. On Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, more than 200 volunteers collected massive amounts of junk that had been washed down the river after last year's flooding.

    Oahe celebrates 50 years of community

    On a crisp August morning, several hundred visitors met at the Oahe Dam to remember a ceremony held 50 years earlier. They gathered at the same location as many had back then to commemorate one of the dam’s unauthorized purposes: serving as a pivot point.
