I applied for the intern program because I had a strong interest in hydropower after touring Grand Coulee Dam and Hoover Dam growing up, and because I enjoy the rural location that the program is at.
Being an intern brings real world applications the classroom experience. Classroom problems have greater meaning and feel like more than lists of questions. Benefits of the intern program include a better understanding of hydropower and the missions carried out at each project, and an opportunity to secure a job with all the benefits that come with it.
My interest in hydropower is piqued by the knowledge that I am helping USACE provide power to thousands of families, and by creatively solving problems to maintain electrical power output for years to come.
