  • Dworshak Dam postpones opening campgrounds

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Dworshak Dam Ranger staff announces that Dent Acres campground, as well as Canyon Creek and Dam View campgrounds will not open for the season in April as planned. Due to minimum staffing and for visitor safety during this COVID-19 outbreak, Dworshak staff has been directed to postpone opening the campgrounds until a later date. At this time, we cannot give a specific date when the campgrounds will open.
  • Missouri River public meetings canceled; options under consideration

    To further reduce potential exposure to COVID-19, public meetings on Missouri River Mainstem Reservoir System operations have been canceled. “To protect the public and Corps employees, and to adhere to guidance issued by state and local governments, we have canceled the public meetings originally scheduled for April 6-14.,” said John Remus, chief of the Corps’ Missouri Basin Water Management Division.
  • Corps-managed campgrounds begin orderly shutdown

    As America confronts the challenges of Coronavirus disease 2019, protecting the health and safety of the recreating public, volunteers and our government personnel is our highest priority. To protect against the further spread of the Coronavirus all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managed campgrounds have begun an orderly shutdown and will be closed indefinitely. 
  • Army Corps of Engineers modifying operations at recreation areas due to Coronavirus

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it has begun the orderly shutdown of all USACE-managed campgrounds to protect against the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019. Visitor centers, beaches, special events, and USACE-sponsored events such as shore sweeps, interpretive programs, Kids to Parks Day, Earth Day events, public meetings and other public gatherings at all USACE-managed sites and facilities have also been closed and/or put on hold until further notice.  
  • Update to Portland District recreation closures related to COVID-19

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District has closed several recreation sites to protect the public and Corps employees.
  • Reduced releases from Gavins Point expected Friday

    Releases from Gavins Point Dam will be incrementally reduced to 20,000 cubic feet per second beginning Thursday. Releases should reach 20,000 cubic feet per second by Friday morning and will be held there through the weekend.
