  • Missouri River Committee met in South Dakota

    The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee (MRRIC) met in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, May 19–21. At its 29th meeting, MRRIC learned more about recent progress made on the management plan for the Missouri River Recovery Program(MRRP), including five preliminary sets of hypothetical actions (alternatives) to address the listed bird species. The committee discussed these hypothetical alternatives and examined hydrologic models that evaluated their impacts on socioeconomic activities on the river.

    The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee will hold its 29th meeting, May 19-21, in Sioux Falls, SD. Public attendance is encouraged, and an opportunity is provided during each daily session for the public to address the Committee and the lead agencies, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, regarding the Missouri River Recovery Program.
  • Missouri River runoff half of average in April; Corps continues water conservation measures

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Missouri River Basin Water Management Division reports April runoff in the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City, Iowa, was 1.5 million acre feet (MAF), 52 percent of normal. The 2015 runoff forecast in the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City, Iowa, has decreased 1 MAF from last month to 19.3 MAF, 76 percent of normal. Average annual runoff is 25.2 MAF.
