  • Missouri River Committee seeks input on charter amendments

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division, on behalf of the Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee, referred to at MRRIC, seeks input to proposed amendments to its charter. The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee reached tentative consensus on the following proposed amendment to its Charter, originally approved on July 1, 2008. The draft amendments were posted to the MRRIC website on Jan. 12, 2022. Comments must be submitted not later than Feb. 12, 2022.

    Leaders from The Mississippi River Commission along with leaders from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers toured the Missouri River Mar. 29 – Apr. 1. Lt. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, chief of engineers and commanding general, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Brig. Gen. D. Peter Hemlinger, commander, Northwestern Division, Col. William Hannan Jr., commander, Kansas City District and Col. Mark Himes, commander, Omaha District, met with partners and stakeholders and visited sites along the river.

    OMAHA, Neb.—U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Northwestern Division Commander Brig. Gen. D. Peter Helmlinger signed a ‘Record of Decision’ for the Missouri River Recovery Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement Tuesday.

    The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee held the first meeting of its 10th anniversary year here March 27-29. This was the committee’s 40th meeting since it was established by the Water Resources Development Act of 2007 and chartered in 2008.

    The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee held the first meeting of its 10th anniversary year here March 27-29. Tribes were represented by Pascha Enzi, Osage Nation; Tim Grant, Omaha Tribe of Nebraska; Randy Teboe, Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska; Elizabeth Wakeman, Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe; and Shannon Wright, Ponca Tribe.
