The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee will hold its next quarterly meeting Nov. 17-19 in Rapid City, South Dakota. The public is welcome to attend; opportunity to address the committee and the lead agencies, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, regarding the Missouri River Recovery Program will be provided during each daily session. 

The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Rushmore Plaza, 555 N. 5th St., 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The agenda is available at https://www.nwo.usace.army.mil/mrrp/mrric/. 

A media opportunity for interviews with committee members has been set for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Updates regarding recent progress on the Missouri River Recovery Management Plan will be provided to the committee. The committee will continue to engage with the Independent Science Advisory Panel and the Independent Social and Economic Technical Review Panel on the scientific, adaptive management, and socio-economic components of the developing management plan. 

MRRIC is a 70-member committee that comprises stakeholders and representatives of Tribal, state and federal governments throughout the Missouri River Basin. This committee provides recommendations to federal agencies on the current and future activities of the MRRP. The committee makes its substantive recommendations by consensus.

The committee, established in fall 2008, meets quarterly at various locations throughout the Missouri River Basin. It will begin the upcoming meeting having approved over 20 substantive recommendations addressed to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, which is responsible for endangered species protection and recovery, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which operates the bank stabilization and navigation project and the mainstem dams on the Missouri River.  The committee’s next quarterly meeting will be held in February 2016 in Kansas City, Missouri.
