PORTLAND, Ore. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District (Corps) continues to manage for COVID19 while offering increased recreation opportunities to area communities. Campgrounds at Lost Creek, Cottage Grove, Dorena and Lookout Point lakes will open Thursday, June 11.
To provide camping and a safe experience for all, expect some changes in services and site availability. Please follow Oregon Health Authority guidance and recreate only with those from the same household. Shower facilities, playgrounds, swim areas and visitor centers are still closed. Dispersed and group camping also remain closed. Reservations for available sites can be made at Recreation.gov. No visitors to campsites or extra vehicles beyond the two allowed per campsite are permitted at this time. Only credit card payments will be accepted at Schwarz, Pine Meadows and Primitive. Patrons visiting Ivan Oakes Campground are asked to make payment using the honor vault on site.

WILLAMETTE VALLEY
• Schwarz Campground - Select sites available for reservation
• Pine Meadows Campground - Select sites available for reservation
• Primitive Campground - Reservations at Recreation.gov under the Pine Meadows listing
• Ivan Oakes Campground - First come, first serve
“We look forward to phasing camping back into our recreational opportunities as part of a coordinated relaxing of restrictions with our federal, state and local partners,” said Melissa Rinehart, Portland District chief of natural resource management.
“We expect our campgrounds will be busy and visitors should expect reduced services, so please come prepared with supplies like hand sanitizer, soap and water. Remember staff, camp hosts and volunteers will also be practicing social distancing. Be kind and patient with your fellow campers and staff. Have fun and enjoy your public lands.”

Visitors must comply with all park and vehicle rules and recreate responsibly by following safety guidelines to lessen the spread of COVID-19. The Corps encourages the public to continue following state and local guidance.
When recreating, the Corps asks the public to comply with the following guidelines:
• Anyone exhibiting any cold or flu-like symptoms shall not participate in outdoor recreation activities.
• We reserve the right to cancel reservations for the sake of public health and safety.
• We may need to close any public park, land, trail or boat ramp if there is reason to believe an unsafe condition exists or social distancing practices are not being adhered to.
• Parking may be limited, but recreation users must park in designated spots.
• Limit your recreation partners to only those who live within your household unit.
• Visitors are encouraged to recreate locally and minimize travel outside their area.
• Always maintain a minimum six-foot social distance from other people in all areas including trailhead and boat ramp locations.
• Utilize facial coverings in any situation where social distancing is not possible.
• Do not gather in groups.
• Be considerate of other park visitors. Public restrooms are only as clean as the last user. Where restrooms are available, they may not have hand sanitizing stations. Bring your own personal protective supplies including hand sanitizer, soap, water, face mask, disinfectant wipes, etc.
• Bring your own food and supplies when possible to help protect others in your community.
• Wear a personal floatation device (life vest) if you are recreating on the water. At this time, Corps life jacket loaner stations are not available in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
