Public Meetings are held each spring and fall across the Missouri River basin.

Public Meetings are held each spring and fall across the Missouri River basin. Fall public meetings provide an update on current year's runoff and reservoir operations as well as planned operations for the next year's runoff season. The Annual Operating Plan for the next year's runoff season is released for public comment in September, presented at the public meetings and finalized at the end of the calendar year. Spring public meetings provide a status of mountain snowpack, a runoff forecast for the year, and how operations during the runoff year will meet the authorized purposes for the Missouri River Mainstem System.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Missouri River Basin Water Management Division has rescheduled the spring public meeting in Pierre, South Dakota for Monday, April 15.

The rescheduled meeting will take place as follows:

  • Monday, April 15
  • Start time: 10 a.m. (CDT)
  • Ramkota Hotel and Convention Center
  • Amphitheater Room II
  • 920 W Sioux Avenue
  • Pierre, SD 57501

The original meeting was canceled due to blizzard conditions that prevented the Corps officials from landing at the local airport.

“We value the importance of these public meetings and know the residents of Pierre and Fort Pierre have questions about planned operations at Oahe. We want to provide them information first-hand,” said John Remus, chief of the Missouri Basin Water Management Division.

Slides from the original meeting are available online at under Annual Operations Plans and Public Meetings.

The Bismarck and Sioux City meetings were recorded and a video will be made available as soon as possible at
