Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee to meet in Omaha

Omaha, Neb. - The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee (MRRIC) will hold its 35th meeting here Nov. 15-17, 2016. The meetings are open to the public; members of the public will have an opportunity during each daily session to address the committee and the lead federal agencies – the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) – regarding the Missouri River Recovery Program (MRRP).

The meeting will be at the Embassy Suites Downtown/Old Market, 555 South 10th St., Omaha, NE 68102, beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, and concluding at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17. The MRRIC meeting agenda can be found online at www.MRRIC.org. 

At this meeting, the Corps and Service will share details on the draft Missouri River Recovery Management Plan-Environmental Impact Statement which is scheduled for public release in December 2016.

The committee will continue to engage with the Independent Science Advisory Panel and the Independent Social and Economic Technical Review Panel on the scientific, adaptive management, and socio-economic components of the developing management plan. 

MRRIC is a 70-member committee comprised of stakeholders and representatives of Tribal, state and federal governments throughout the Missouri River Basin. This committee provides recommendations to federal agencies on the current and future activities of the MRRP. The Committee makes its substantive recommendations by consensus.

The committee, established in the fall of 2008, meets quarterly at various locations throughout the Missouri River Basin. The next quarterly MRRIC meeting will be held Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2017. The location has not yet been decided.
