    OMAHA, Neb.—U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Northwestern Division Commander Brig. Gen. D. Peter Helmlinger signed a ‘Record of Decision’ for the Missouri River Recovery Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement Tuesday.

    The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee held the first meeting of its 10th anniversary year here March 27-29. This was the committee’s 40th meeting since it was established by the Water Resources Development Act of 2007 and chartered in 2008.

    The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee held the first meeting of its 10th anniversary year here March 27-29. Tribes were represented by Pascha Enzi, Osage Nation; Tim Grant, Omaha Tribe of Nebraska; Randy Teboe, Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska; Elizabeth Wakeman, Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe; and Shannon Wright, Ponca Tribe.
  • Missouri River sandbars closed during nesting season

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reminds residents that many sandbars with active piping plover and interior least tern nests are closed for recreational use during the nesting season which runs from mid-May through August in order to protect chicks and increase populations.
  • Corps incorporating draft MRRMP EIS public comments, preparing biological assessment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing comments received regarding the draft Missouri River Recovery Program-Environmental Impact Statement as it moves toward preparing a final EIS which is anticipated to be released in summer 2018. “Public comments are a crucial element in developing the final EIS and record of decision,” said Maj. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, commanding general, Northwestern Division, USACE.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City and Omaha Districts, will hold public meetings on the draft Missouri River Recovery Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (MRRMP-EIS) on in Kansas City, Mo., Wednesday, Feb. 15, and in St. Louis, Mo., Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5-8:45 p.m.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City and Omaha Districts, will hold a public meeting on the draft Missouri River Recovery Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Thompson Alumni Center, 6705 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE 68182, from 5-8:45 p.m. Parking is available in Lot X near the center; passes are required in adjacent lots.
